There he stated his commitment to bringing about "regime change" in Cuba. At one point during his brief speech he stated that, "A rapidly growing part of Cuba's tourism industry is the illicit sex trade, a modern form of slavery which is encouraged by the Cuban government. El embajador de Cuba en Francia, el Sr. Eumelio Caballero Rodríguez, cuya versión de los hechos fue completamente censurada por la prensa francesa, afirmó que los militantes de RSF, en ningún momento, lo solicitaron para “entregar un mensaje”: “Cuando nos dimos cuenta de su presencia, habían ya encadenado las puertas de acceso de la embajada. Pero ellos se olvidaron de que Cuba es especialista en romper cadenas. Rompimos las cadenas del colonialismo español, rompimos las cadenas del neocolonialismo norteamericano y les rompimos también sus cadenas”.
