I look forward to keeping up with future developments in Cuba at this site. It is good to see articles translated into English. It is helpful to see a translation.

There are so many barriers to communication in between the U.S. and Cuba. I don’t think I have ever heard or read any quotations by Fidel Castro reported by the mainstream U.S. with the exception of a few insults that could be used to incite fear and not understanding. I am very isolated living inside a country where capitalism is the only political philosophy that exists. In a very cynical way socialism is excluded from the educational system and from all political activity and thought.

I do hope for a better economy for Cuba. I understand that there have been difficult times and that the vicious U.S. embargo has caused a great deal of suffering. Economic problems of Cuba are among the most prevalent criticisms of the revolution, a frequent justification to the claim that socialism does not function. It is good to see this problem addressed by Cuba. I do not know a way in which to motivate people to work in a way that is fair and just for the society as well as for the individual. That seems to be a recurring question. There are certainly no answers in the U.S. The deteriorated state of american music and culture testifies that there should be more than just profitability in the assessment of beauty and value.

I wish I could find more information about daily life and the quality of life in Cuba. I understand that the access to the internet by the average Cuban citizen is limited. I hope to see more Cubans on the internet soon. As I said, there are so many barriers to commutation. I would like to know more about the average Cuban, not just the exceptional ones: Do you like your job? How do you get a job? How do you get to work? How much does the dentist charge you to fill a cavity? Does having fun cost money? How much meat is on your plate? What do you do when you are bored? What is the rhythm of your day? What song is on the radio? Do you feel as stressed out as I do?
