Tres precisiones y algunas preguntas que no publicó “The New York Times”

Three observations and some questions regarding this article:

  • It posits that Yoani Sánchez´ blog is the voice of a generation that does not even know who she is. A recent poll conducted by the U.S. Interests Section in Cuba says that only 2% of those polled know of her-despite the space that she occupies in the propaganda that is finance by the United States government regarding Cuba.
  • It is impossible for her blog to have received 14 million monthly visits, almost half of the number of the New York Times during the last month of May. This can be easily shown by comparing both internet addresses in a website such as http://www.alexa.com/ Her blog does not even appear there.
  • It is false to state that President Carter "met with her" during his recent visit to Cuba. The ex-President received for less than an hour several persons that had been selected by the U.S. diplomatic mission in Cuba-amongst them was Ms. Sánchez-but he never met with her. Those who have secretly met with her on several occasions, according to Wikileaks are several U.S. diplomatics, including Deputy Assistant Secretary Bisa Williams.

How can a person, who has to "utilize subterfuges" to publish her blog and who is not a specialist in computer science, write a book of technical advice about the WordPress platform without accessing the internet? Was it written by others? Does she have the "invisible internet" for dissidents that the United States finances and which The New York Times revealed?

How can a person, who asks in her twitter account whether President Chávez was in fact in Venezuela when four hours earlier Cuban television published the images of his arrival in Caracas, represent a challenge to the government of Cuba´s "monopoly of information?"
